East River Sunset

We’ve had a run of lovely sunsets these past few days in New York.  Here are the clouds from Sunday night, over Ward’s Island Bridge, Randall’s Island, RFK Bridge (formerly the Triborough Bridge), Hell Gate Bridge (also known as the East River Arch Bridge), Astoria, the northern tip of Roosevelt Island, and the spiffy new Manhattan Marine Transfer Station.

The waters are calm, but you can just about make out the turbulence of Hell Gate as the Harlem River mixes with the East River, a notorious stretch for river vessels, and no place to swim.
