Wearable Art

Art is central to our lives, but so often it’s confined to our walls (or Instagram accounts)—I want art to fill the world!

By creating scarves, wearable art, I’ve hoping to bridge part of that void, to bring light and color and movement onto the streets, going everywhere we go.

I love working in a square format—it’s the most convenient format for my photographs, and most of my art falls into it too—so I could simply print many of my works on silk without alteration. But they also have a lot of negative space around the central image, or within it, so it has been an interesting challenge to find a design that completely fills the space.

This design is based on the shapes from the “Into The Deep” group of my “Artibles” series, manipulated much the same way as the “In The Round” group, but I’ve also added a linear displacement that pulls the shapes out into the corners. I’ve used my favorite palette for Summer Palace, but my wife has much more fashion sense than I do, so I’ve also yielded to her demands for other color ways designed to coordinate with different moods.

The scarves are beautifully printed on pure high quality silk with hand-rolled hems, and are $150 each, including shipping within the United States. They come in four color ways and can be purchased here, but please contact me directly to claim a 20% friends and family discount!
